Bloating, reflux, IBS-type symptoms and bowel habits that will not settle are among the most common reasons people come to us. They are also among the most commonly dismissed, usually after a workup comes back clear and someone is told to manage stress and live with it.
Clear scans and normal bloodwork are genuinely good news. They rule out the things that most need ruling out. What they do not do is explain why you feel unwell, because most digestive complaints are problems of function rather than structure, and function is not what those tests measure.
That last one surprises people. The gut and the brain are in constant two-way communication, which is why digestive trouble so often shows up as mood and concentration, and why a stressful stretch shows up in your gut.
The useful question is not "which supplement for bloating" but "why is this happening in you". A few things account for most of it:
Sometimes a question is worth answering with a test. Stool and breath testing can identify specific organisms, including H. pylori and parasites, and can show how well food is being broken down and absorbed. That is worth knowing when it changes what happens next.
Often it does not. A structured elimination trial and a fortnight of honest notes tell us more than an expensive panel, and cost nothing. We will say which situation you are in rather than defaulting to the panel.
Usually less dramatic than people expect and slower than they would like. Removing one or two genuine triggers, restoring some regularity to meals, working on sleep, and addressing overgrowth where it is present accounts for most of the improvement most people get. Where digestive enzyme output or nutrient status is genuinely low, that gets addressed specifically rather than by default.
None of this diagnoses anything, and none of it replaces gastroenterology care. Persistent changes in bowel habit, blood in the stool, unintended weight loss, difficulty swallowing or pain that wakes you at night need proper medical assessment first, and we will tell you so rather than start a protocol.
