      Infrared Sauna in Roswell, GA

Infrared sauna uses infrared wavelengths to warm you directly rather than heating the air around you. That means a lower cabin temperature than a traditional sauna, usually somewhere between 120 and 150F rather than 180F and up, which most people find far easier to sit in for a useful length of time.

      What a Session Involves

You sit in the cabin for 20 to 40 minutes depending on how you tolerate it, starting shorter and building up. You will sweat, more than the temperature suggests you should. Bring water, drink before and after, and step out if you feel lightheaded rather than seeing it through.

Afterwards most people describe feeling loose and warm, and some report sleeping better that night. Sessions stack better than they stand alone, in the sense that people who come regularly tend to notice more than people who come once.

      What People Use It For

      • Muscle tightness and everyday aches
      • Stiffness, including the stiffness that comes with arthritis
      • Winding down, and sleep that follows a session
      • Recovery after training
      • The simple pleasure of being warm through, which people undervalue in a January in Georgia

      What the Evidence Actually Supports

Being straight about this is more useful than a longer list of benefits.

The best-known work on infrared sauna and chronic pain is small. The most cited fibromyalgia study followed 46 people through twice-weekly sessions over 12 weeks and reported roughly a third reduction in pain scores. That is encouraging, and it is a small uncontrolled study rather than settled science. Separately, large observational studies of traditional Finnish sauna use have found associations with better cardiovascular outcomes, though association is not causation and those were not infrared cabins.

You will also see confident claims about how deep infrared penetrates. Manufacturer literature often says one to two inches; physics-based estimates put far-infrared absorption at a few millimetres. Treat any specific figure with caution. Judge it on how you feel rather than on the brochure.

Infrared sauna is a comfort and relaxation therapy. It does not diagnose, treat or cure any condition, and it does not detoxify you in the way the industry often suggests. Your liver and kidneys handle clearance continuously, as our detoxification page explains.

Who Should Check With Us First

Tell us, and your physician, before booking if you have uncontrolled high blood pressure, an arrhythmia or any recent cardiac event, unstable angina, severe aortic stenosis, or if you are pregnant. The same goes for medication affecting sweating or fluid balance (diuretics, beta blockers, anticholinergics), a heat-sensitive condition such as multiple sclerosis, or any difficulty sensing temperature including diabetic neuropathy. Do not use a sauna after drinking alcohol.

Dehydration is the most common problem with sauna use and it is entirely avoidable.

      Where It Fits

It works best as one part of a wider plan rather than the whole of it. If pain or stiffness keeps returning, the more productive question is what keeps producing it, which is what natural pain management and naturopathic care are for. It also sits comfortably alongside therapeutic massage.

Our post on infrared sauna for pain relief goes into the mechanisms in more depth.

Not sure whether it suits you? Ask. We would rather tell you it is not appropriate than take the booking.
