Hormones are messengers, and the message changes with sleep, stress, body composition and what you eat. That is the part most articles skip: a great deal of what gets called a hormone problem starts somewhere upstream of the hormones themselves.
None of those is specific on its own. Every one of them is also produced by thyroid trouble, low iron, poor sleep or sustained stress, which is exactly why the pattern matters more than any single symptom and why guessing is a poor strategy here.
Before adjusting hormones it is worth asking what is pushing them around:
Hormones follow daily and monthly rhythms, so when a sample is taken matters as much as what it shows. A single random draw can easily mislead. Hormone and cortisol testing is worth running when the answer would change what happens next, and we will say so when it would not.
The practice does offer bioidentical hormone therapy, and it can help the right person. It is also not a shortcut past the things above: prescribed on top of poor sleep, untreated thyroid trouble or blood sugar swings, it tends to disappoint. We look underneath first, and that is not a delay tactic.
If you are considering it, the patient education library is deliberately frank about what the evidence does and does not support, including the difference between FDA-approved and compounded preparations.
Our women's integrative programme blends conventional and complementary care around the individual rather than a standard protocol. Our hormone balancing page explains how that runs in practice. None of this diagnoses anything or replaces the care of your own doctor.
